ARTEX & TEXTURED CEILING REMOVAL PROCESS

To really understand whats involved in removing artex or any textured wall and ceiling coverings you need to take a look at what artex is.
It can be made of a range of materials, in the 70s it contained asbestos, but more modern versions are paper or Styrofoam-based products. This created the texture. Removing it can be difficult not least because it’s messy but because i’s easy to damage the surfaces in the process.
THE PROCESS OF ARTEXING AND PAINTING:
- Remove light switches and fixtures from walls and ceilings.
- Cover furniture and floors.
- Masked and seal surfaces dust and materials.
- Remove substrate from affected surfaces.
- Sand and prime surfaces in advance of new coverings.
- Remove old materials, vacuum and cleaned.
